7th VideoFestival City of Imperia
REGULATIONS of PARTICIPATION
Art.1 – The Videofestival City of Imperia is organized by the “Officine Digitali”, in collaboration with the Municipality of Imperia - Councillorship to the Culture and is dedicated to works carried out in no matter what format. The Festival is restricted to professional directors, videomakers and schools (in a separate section). Classes may also participate indicating in the application the data of a person in charge. Art.2 – Every director or every school may compete with one or more works. Art. 3 - The Festival is organized in three fixed categories plus a special category, all divided into sections:
PROFESSIONALS CATEGORY divided in: Films Section (with no time limits) Documentary Section (with no time limits) Animation & Graphic Section (with no time limits) Only to one work per section, chosen by the Jury, will be awarded a prize. AMATEURS CATEGORY divided in: Feature films Section (Films, fiction etc. lasting more than 30 minutes). Only to one work will be awarded a prize. Short films Section (Films, fiction etc. lasting less than 30 minutes). Only to one work will be awarded a prize. Documentary films Section (Geographical, scientific, investigation, inquiry, lasting less than 30 minutes). To the first three works will be awarded a prize. Animation and Graphics Section (Video animation, computer graphics etc., lasting less than 10 minutes). To the first three works will be awarded a prize. Video Album Section (Topical Video album to one's choice, lasting less than 30 minutes). Only to one work will be awarded a prize. Videoclip Section (lasting less than 5 minutes). Only to one work will be awarded a prize. Schools Single Section (Without distinction of speciality but lasting as previous sections). Only to one work will be awarded a prize.
INTERNATIONAL CATEGORY: to which may participate exclusively foreign authors with works divided into the following sections: Films, Documentary films, Animation films without limits of duration. Works must be subtitled in one of the following languages: Italian, French, English. To the first selected work of every section will be awarded a prize. The subject is free.
EXPLORER CATEGORY: There are two sections Explorer, national and international, for professionals and amateurs, who will compete together: Travel Documentary Section (Trip documentary lasting less than 30 minutes): Only to one work chosen by the Jury will be awarded a prize. Nature Documentary Section (Video reportage about nature and wildlife without limits of duration). Only to one work chosen by the Jury will be awarded a prize.
Art . 4 - The Management of the Festival reserves the right to cancel the sections with no works enrolled or with works not worthy of selection. The dates and the schedule of the showing of the films admitted to the contest will appear afterwards on the official site: www.videofestivalimperia.org on the proper page (Calendar Selections). Art. 5 - In order to participate to the Festival the works transferred on DVD disc must be mailed within and not later than January 16, 2012 for national competition and not later than January 30, 2012 for international competition (the date of posting on the postmark will be considered as proof) and addressed to the attention of the Art Director Mister Fiorenzo Runco, Video Festival Città di Imperia, Strada Colla 18 - 18100 Imperia (Italy) or may be delivereded directly to the shop “Foto Languasco” Via dell’Ospedale - Imperia. The works entered must be accompanied by the application form duly filled up in all its parts and undersigned. The forwarding charges are at the sender's expense. The Management is not responsible for works not received. The participation to the Festival is free. The works received over the expiry date will be accepted for next edition. In order to avoid problems of compatibility the screening will be made by computer, therefore we suggest to avoid protected DVD, otherwise we'll be unable to guarantee the correct vision of the selected works. Art. 6 – The works may be presented on VHS cassette or DVD, on the cover of which it is ABSOLUTELY COMPULSORY to write CLEARLY the title, the lenght and the year of realization, togheter with the name and address of the author. The participants must also state clearly, on the cover, in which category and section they intend to be included. The works not in compliance with the above mentioned rules will NOT BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION. A stage shot is also required, together with the detailed synopsis of the work presented. Art. 7 – Every author is responsible for the contents of his own works. Art. 8 – The Art Direction of the Festival reserves the right to make a previous selection of the material received for the admission to the contest. The works received will not be given back and will remain at disposal of the Secretariat of the Festival which may disclose them by any means, partially or totally, exclusively for educational purposes, always informing the concerned author; a General Archives of the Works and the Authors will be constituted. Art. 9 – The Festival will take place from April 24 until April 28, 2012 at the Cinema Centrale in Imperia (Porto Maurizio). The prize-giving will take place during the final evening, after the possible partial showing of the winning works. Prizes will be given directly to the winners or to their delegates. In case of absence of the winners, prizes will not be conferred. Home delivery is reserved only to international prizes. Art. 10 - The Jury who will award the prizes, constituted by experts of the sector, will be appointed by the “Officine Digitali”. The Art Director will act as Chairman of the Jury. Their judgement is inappellable. There will also be a “Popular Jury Prize” which will be awarded after a voting of the public present in the Theatre, through report cards distributed at the entrance.

EXPLORER CATEGORY: Prize Travel Documentary Special Section: - “Silver Frame” Trophy Prize Nature Documentary Section: - “Silver Frame” Trophy Prize Popular Jury: 1st Prize: “Silver Frame” Trophy. More prizes may be added upon unquestionable opinion of the Jury who reserves the right NOT to award any prize in case the works are considered not suitable. Art. 11 – The participation to the Contest implies the unconditioned acceptance of the present regulations. The Festival Management has the right of final decision on all the matters not expressly specified in the present regulation. Art. 12 - According to the Italian law No. 196/03 about Privacy, the participation to the Festival means the authorization of the author to the utilizations, whether by computerized means or not, of the personal data from The Cineforum Imperia and/or third parties, entrusted to implement the Festival's fulfilments or to distribute literature. Art.13 – The authors willing to broadcast their works on the IMPERIA TV Channel and/or other TV channels and/or other linked shows/festivals have to mail, in addition to the material requested for the contest, an extra copy (DVD) of the works and give their assent on the “General disclaimer” duly filled up and undersigned. The Art Direction will look after the delivery of the a/m copies to the Editorial Offices which will make a preventive selection of the works received. |
